About Non-competitive Enzyme Inhibition

Non-competitive enzyme inhibition is a type of enzyme inhibition where the inhibitor reduces the activity of the enzyme but does not affect the binding of substrate to the enzyme's active site.

The formula used in this calculator is:

v = (Vmax * [S]) / ((Km + [S]) * (1 + [I] / Ki))

Where:

  • v is the reaction rate
  • Vmax is the maximum reaction velocity
  • [S] is the substrate concentration
  • Km is the Michaelis constant
  • [I] is the inhibitor concentration
  • Ki is the inhibition constant

In non-competitive inhibition, the inhibitor binds to a site other than the active site, causing a conformational change in the enzyme that reduces its activity.
